Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”.

We do not want this day to pass without acknowledgement, so, during period 3, we will be creating a human version of the picture you see below. The students will be placed in the formation of the Native Sun Symbol. The Native Sun Symbol represents life-giving abundance with its’s warmth radiating healing and peace. The sun was freed and given back to the earth by the Raven, who released it out of its confining box. Since then, it has given all of humankind warmth, light, and life.
